We use Google Analytics to see what pages are most visited, and where in the world visitors are visiting from. Illustrated with more than 700 photographs, Abramovic provides insight on her most important works and some of her most difficult personal experiences, conveying the story with her signature emotion and wit.

This product arrived before time, brand new and it came with a personalised message from the seller which I think is a smart touch that makes the difference.Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. Their amazing love story and their good looks had brought them together—sex had brought them together—but so many things drove them apart.

Later I discovered it had once belonged to wealthy Jews, and had been confiscated during the Nazi occupation. The child of Communist war-hero parents under Tito’s regime in postwar Yugoslavia, she was raised with a relentless work ethic.

Marina’s story, by turns moving, epic, and dryly funny, informs an incomparable artistic career that involves pushing her body past the limits of fear, pain, exhaustion, and danger in an uncompromising quest for emotional and spiritual transformation.

There was a kind of hidden clothes closet in our apartment, a very deep and dark closet—the word in Serbo-Croatian is plakar. Even if you are not a fan of her art I would recommend reading this book, I am always at awe how life takes us on various journeys and how we cannot predict the outcomes of the choices we make, and memoirs of artists prove it in the most breathtaking way. Not being an art lover, I did find the lists of people she had worked with as about as interesting to read as the Old Testament genealogy. so you have book like Travels With Charley by John Steinbeck, which includes some scenes that are likely entirely fabricated, or you have Educated by Tara Westover, where she has had to say that everything in the book is according to her memory and is thereby an interpretation of sorts.Part shaman, part joker, she is cerebral as well as physical in her approach to art: “I believe that universal knowledge is everywhere around us. If a memoir offers fans an opportunity to make a connecting conversation between the life and the art, it will never live up to the experience of witnessing Abramović’s live performances, which are always bigger than biography and psychology. In it, Abramović provides insights into her most important works and some of her most difficult personal experiences, conveying the story with her signature emotion and wit.

So my more emotional self wishes it weren’t ghostwritten and my more rational self thinks it isn’t a deal-breaker, lol.Over the past half century, Marina Abramović has earned worldwide acclaim as a pioneer of performance art. While Abramović’s skills as a performer obviously require physical training, it is the quality of her presence that actually moves people and draws large audiences. When my grandmother Milica, my mother’s mother, came to visit and saw how thin I was, she was horrified. Private emotions and love are described very candidly, there is no pretentiousness towards the audience or the reader - on the contrary, one feels great respect for them. But it still managed to exceed my expectations; I think I was anticipating entertaining and instead I got revelatory.
