About this deal

The dedication which starts this book is such an important message also and it is fantastic that there are avenues for help listed at the back with contact details for anyone in crisis and who needs them. And if you start reading it, you cannot put it down in fear that if you won't know who was the killer and why he did it, you would not have rest at night. This was an absolutely dark, gritty, gory and twisted (when it comes to the MO of the killer, the motivation isn't really twisted - like I said sometimes the killer is relatable) book.

Detective Robert Hunter was seen some of the world’s worst sadist and psychotic killers in his time with the LAPD Ultra Violent Crime Division but in Genesis he is going to come up against a killer like no one before, a killer that is twisted and evil beyond imagination. The story and writing are excellent, captivating the reader from the very first pages but never losing its momentum. Estuvo interesante y los primeros asesinatos bastante espectaculares, aunque la parte final en el avión se me hizo algo larga (mucho bla bla).It has the wow factor, the intrigue and the well thought-out and put together plot that makes it an excellent dark and interesting read. I am not going to tell anything about the story as murders are starting from the beginning of the book and revealing anything will be spoiling the pleasure of reading the book. These books are extremely graphic and violent in their content and I actually think that Genesis is the most disturbing and violent of them all. The dedication at the start is beautiful and made me cry even before I started to read it, The end of the book has details of helplines for those who are struggling.

In the end, I came to the conclusion that the author tried too hard in the wrong direction to make the book better than his last one and went up a notch on the shock factor. If you love your crime thrillers to be of the cosy type, then this is definitely not the book for you. This is the sort of stuff I like to read about no matter how disturbing and gory the book or the details are I can still sleep soundly at night. The story twists in just the right places, leaving you trying to work out the killer without success and does an excellent job of keeping it from becoming too predictable. Yes, it has too much gore and too many details that I could do without, but why at the end of the day are we choosing to read a crime book?

Every time my phone pinged with a message my heart sped up (you'll understand what I mean if you read the book).

I can’t give too many details away as there were so many quotes and speeches throughout the book that spoke to me. He always leaves part of a poem with the body and in a day or two after the murder, sends a video message to the victim's loved one.
