About this deal

Ok…rant over…oh wait…just a final general rant, can we just stop naming all fantasy novels like they are a 5 paragraph essay?

Cause, sometimes it seemed to be very extravagant (like, faes could hear everything from very far away and other times it seemed like they didn't), but it wasn't a big deal to me. NOTE: other restrictions can be a result of our security platform detecting potential malicious activity.I didn't much care for the heroine, as I found her straight out of YA Heroine Central Casting with her uncontrollable rage, impulsivity, and inability to not crack wise when in dangerous situations. Immerse yourself in Fae of Brytwilde, a series of standalone fantasy romance novels all set in the same fae world and loosely inspired by Jane Austen's novels. It times this meant that I was kind of frustrated with Elle, because the actual villain was RIGHT THERE and I get that she doubted Fitz more easily because Reid was her family's friend and a human to boot.

This a loose retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and the author does a good job of being faithful to that story. Dive into this new world where danger and drama is always around the corner and even those closest to you can't be trusted. Currently she lives in Ohio with her husband and fur babies, and surrounds herself with books and coffee on a regular basis. Sure, if she was 18 in today’s world then maybe I would believe that she was having such a struggle with her self and the death of her father, but she’s not.I think what I appreciated most about this though was that it touched on some of the more vital themes from the original.

This book did have ghosts and spirits in it, but it was done in a way that was spooky without being weird. it had everything i loved about the cruel prince and everything i look for in a fantasy romance but with no spice and i loved it. From that moment on, Elle finds herself thrust into the Kingdom's dark secrets, including an unsolved murder among the closest of the Ashwood family.World-building was decent and always clearly portrayed, but I do wish it had been more evocative and more present in the storytelling. Although we definitely do have some very good fae, there are others that want nothing more than to kill. This gothic vibes, fantasy romance, loose retelling of Pride and Prejudice is everything I was hoping for and more. The tension between Fitz and Elle was great, and in true PnP fashion he falls first and fights it, and she despises what he stands for, or rather what she THINKS he stands for.
